ERA's new operational reports with FATHOM

12 February 2025: ERA is committed to enhancing regional aviation's visibility within Europe’s air traffic network. To this end, we have developed a 2024 operational statistics report using EUROCONTROL’s FATHOM tool. Moving forward, ERA will publish monthly reports to ensure regional aviation’s vital contributions are consistently recognised and understood across the sector.

In a network as extensive and diverse as European air traffic, understanding the composition and contribution of the different players involved is crucial. We are navigating a challenging reality where commitment to delivering results, to communicating transparently, and to continuously improving are at the core of everything we do. As part of this ongoing commitment, ERA has developed our 2024 operational statistics report using EUROCONTROL’s FATHOM tool, a powerful resource offering insights into traffic trends, punctuality, ATFM delays, fuel efficiency and overall operational performance.

After a year marked by significant ATFM delays and operational inefficiencies, ERA members’ total traffic increased by 2 per cent compared to 2023, handling a total of 1,029,033 flights. We also achieved a 0.6 per cent improvement in fuel burn efficiency and outperformed the European average in punctuality. These results underscore our ongoing efforts to improve operational performance, even in the face of challenges.

To continuously elevate the visibility of regional aviation’s vital contributions, we will start producing monthly operational statistics reports. These reports will ensure that the essential role of regional aviation in Europe’s air traffic network is consistently recognised and understood.
