Cranfield University has been at the forefront of aerospace research and teaching for 75 years. A wholly postgraduate university that owns and operates an airport, aircraft and ATC, Cranfield supports the global aerospace industry through its activities in aerospace engineering, air transport management, airport planning and management, aviation safety and human factors. These include Master’s and Doctoral degree programmes, professional development short courses, tailored courses and research/consultancy. Clients include airlines, airports, government agencies and manufacturers. In 2019, Cranfield University was awarded its sixth Queen’s Anniversary Prize – the UK’s most prestigious form of national recognition for a UK academic or vocational institution – for the work of its National Flying Laboratory Centre (NFLC) in support of over 20 UK universities. In 2021, Cranfield introduced a Saab 340B+ aircraft as a flying classroom and laboratory and opened the £67m Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC).
