RLCF Alliance round tables kick off

23 January 2023: The RLCF Alliance, a broad initiative to ensure sufficient access to renewable and low carbon fuels for our industry, has commenced its work in different round tables. ERA members have been selected to contribute in two of those.

The RLCF Alliance has now kicked off its work in four round tables (feedstock availability, synergies and Just transition, production pathway and value chain and access to public and private finance) according to the work programme for 2022/2023 to fulfil the objective of the Alliance: ensuring that aviation and waterborne transport have sufficient access to renewable and low carbon fuels. There have been kick-off meetings for each round table and their chairs have been elected. ERA members KLM Cityhopper and HOP! been selected to contribute in two of the round tables; production pathways and value chain and access to public and private finance. In order to facilitate progress, different small working groups have been created for specific topics such as documentation, SAF objectives and scenarios, SAF pathways, SAF pipeline of project, EASA cleaning house and how to close the price gap between conventional aviation fuel and SAF. Each working group has its objectives and deliverables. Priorities that have allready been set are to produce a forceast of SAF for the 2025–2040 and to list the SAF pathways to focus on.

We will continue to update you on the work of the Alliance.

The Renewable and Low-Carbon Fuels Value Chain Industrial Alliance focusses on boosting production and supply of renewable and low-carbon fuels in the aviation and waterborne sectors. The Alliance is a voluntary collaboration of stakeholders from across the transport fuels and other relevant value chains, from sourcing to end-users, as well as technology and finance providers for each step in the value chain. They represent both the fuels supply and demand sides from the aviation and waterborne sectors, as well as civil society organisation, governments and their agencies. The Renewable and Low-Carbon Fuels Value Chain Industrial Alliance kicked off on 6 April 2022 with an open call for membership applications.  https://transport.ec.europa.eu/transport-themes/clean-transport-urban-transport/alternative-fuels-sustainable-mobility-europe/renewable-and-low-carbon-fuels-value-chain-industrial-alliance_en
