FSR summer school on transport regulation
28 May 2024: The second edition of the Summer School on Transport Regulation, co-organised by the Florence School of Regulation (FSR) Transport together with the International Institute of Air and Space Law of Leiden University and Paris Dauphine-PSL University (CR2D), will take place on 9–11 July 2024. The transport week in Florence will consist of two academic conferences (air and rail) and residential training.
This residential course will be equally efficient for transport regulation senior experts and beginners working in the air, rail or multimodal sectors. The programme is designed in a way to dedicate a full day to each of the areas, and to focus on the most pressing transversal issues affecting the transport and mobility sectors, namely digitalisation, decarbonisation and sustainability, along with resilience.
There will be sessions tackling the air industry major topics as regulatory challenges in the air sector; airports; airlines; ATM; labour and sustainability in the air sector. Amongst the lecturers there will be Herald Ruijters and Dominik Piotrowski from DG Move, Professors Steven Truxal, Regula Dettling-Ott and Kenneth Button and many others.
However, this summer school is not only about lectures but also active networking. Participants will be invited to share their professional experiences and engage in policy discussions to master different topics.
After completing this course participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental regulatory principles of the EU’s transport and mobility sectors, an ability to recognise the main limitations of the liberalisation agenda in transport, a solid understanding of the main policy and technological tools available to tackle decarbonise transport while making it smarter and more resilient, and they will familiarise themselves with best practices and experiences across the different transport modes.
