ERA’s Current Position
The events of 9/11 led to a huge increase in the level and therefore cost of security, both on the ground and in flight. Consequently, the financing of new measures was on the policy agenda of the European Union. However the new Parliament elected in 2014 withdrew the policy discussions regarding funding and will leave this to individual member states.

Latest update 02/12/2019: The report on the latest (99th) meeting held in Brussels on 28 November 2019 is now available to view in the downloads section on this page.
The agenda included an update on the latest AVSEC meeting, international developments including the ongoing work between DG-MOVE and the US Transportation Security Administration plus various policy and stakeholder activity.
