ERA Team

The day-to-day running of the association is managed by the ERA team, led by the Director General. The ERA staff team works across the following areas:

  • Policy and Technical
  • Membership
  • Events and Business Development
  • Corporate Communications
  • Publications
  • Corporate Administration

Policy and Technical
ERA's policy and technical advocacy work is a core part of what ERA does. ERA’s policy work involves interaction on behalf of members with the major regulatory bodies and key organisations that drive strategic aviation policy in Europe. This includes the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the European Commission, the European Parliament, Eurocontrol, the SESAR entities and the European Civil Aviation Conference.

ERA has always been at the forefront of driving policy and strategic development across multiple areas affecting members including safety, security, flight operations, environment, maintenance, air transport policy, legislation, air traffic management and finance. ERA works as an outsourced government affairs department for its members, saving them time and resources that they would otherwise have to allocate themselves. The team provides a platform for guidance and assistance to members on technical, safety and security matters and regularly issues publications on topical subjects.

ERA also runs a number of technical groups throughout the year for members on operations, air safety, industry affairs and finance. These groups are free and open to all ERA members to attend. They offer representatives from member companies the opportunity to network and work with fellow members to influence and steer ERA’s policy and technical activities, learn about the latest developments and to share views, experiences and best practice.

Membership
All membership services including membership enquiries, new members joining and maintaining relationships and communications with existing members, are handled within the commercial division of ERA, which also looks after the association’s events, business development, corporate communications and publications activities.

Events and Business Development
This department focusses on providing high-profile networking opportunities for ERA members, enabling them to enhance existing relationships and develop new business. ERA’s events are organised in-house by the ERA team. The exclusive, members-only ERA General Assembly is the association’s main event of the year, taking place in October, and the ERA Regional Airline Conference is held in the spring. These valuable, high-profile, quality events bring together ERA’s diverse range of members and attract influential industry leaders and airline presidents and CEOs. The events both provide multiple networking opportunities, topical conference programmes, and an airline and airport CEOs’ meeting, with the General Assembly also including an extensive exhibition area, the prestigious awards dinner, golf tournament, and the Annual General Meeting as well as additional meetings dedicated to focussing on key issues and topics relevant to member organisations.

Corporate Communications
ERA’s corporate communications activities aim to keep members informed on ERA’s work and developments as well as communicating the work of ERA and its members to a wider audience. All member personnel receive ERA’s twice-monthly Members’ Update email newsletter with the latest updates from the association and a personal monthly message from the Director General. The corporate communications team issue regular press releases on ERA’s work and campaigns, as well as being the first point of contact for the media, and work with the trade and international press to contribute to many external features and articles on ERA. ERA's ever-growing social media presence aims to share member news, provide members with useful information and news about the industry and the association's work as well as demonstrating our achievements to a wider audience. Through its communications activities, ERA has expanded the collective voice of its members and worked to raise their profile.

The association publishes a bi-monthly magazine, Regional International, and an annual directory of members, the ERA Yearbook.  ERA's publications are authoritative sources of information on legislative, regulatory, member, association and industry news for any company operating in the European aviation sector. ERA's publications are distributed to member representatives from ERA member companies as well as important senior executives and decision makers from within Europe’s aviation industry, and are also available online to a wide readership.

Corporate Administration
The association’s governance, finance administration and personnel activities are managed internally by ERA. This department is also responsible for managing ERA’s office facilities, human resources, premises and services.
